Te Awamutu is a small town in southern Waikato, which is about a 20 minute drive south of Hamilton along state highway 3 towards New Plymouth or Te Kuiti, Te Awamutu is a small farming community, it has friendly people some very popular walks, Te Awamutu is a great place to stop by if you are driving up the country through state highway 1.
What to expect.
Te Awamutu is full of nice locals with a great community. You can expect to be treated nicely when passing through as this is a tourist town. Te Awamutu is known as an old person town, with most of the population either being farmers, commuters to Hamilton or retired folk.
Hiking, Mountain & Trail Biking, Cycling
There are several good hiking tracks or walking routes around the Te Awamutu township. Lots of the walking tracks around the Te Awamutu also double as mountain biking tracks.
