Hekerua Bay to Palm Beach

In the corner of Queens Drive and Goodwin Avenue, follow the trail through Hekerua Bay Reservation into Sandy Bay. Follow Great Barrier Road to Enclosure Bay and turn right into Empire Avenue via McKenzie Reservation into Coromandel Road.

Turn left into Hauraki Road and Cory Road. Then walk to the gazebo through the Mawhitipana reservation to Palm Beach. Continue on Palm Beach to the Matapana Reserve and upward to Matapana Road.

Follow Hill Road, which loops back down to Palm Beach. Hekerua Bay and Enclosure Bay boast excellent beaches, rocky pools and coast rock outcrops.

Palm Beach is a very popular white sand beach, ideal for swimming and sunbathing, with naked bathing at the western end of the beach.

Time: Approximately two weeks.

Dogs: Keep your dog/s under control, especially on the steep slopes of the paths. Facilities: Toilets in Sandy Bay, Palm Beach and Matapan Reserves. Shops and BBQs in Palm Beach.
