Raglan is a small beach town off the west coast of New Zealand, it is best known for its amazing black sand beaches and fabulous surfing, Raglan is only small but is full of friendly locals, backpackers and a popular tourist location around New Zealand.
Raglan is located about 30 to 40 minutes from my home town Hamilton, New Zealand and is a great summer location to visit on a day out.

People
Raglan is full of nice locals, because it is a small town it has a very close nit community.
Fishing
Raglan has some great fishing, they have several wharves located around the town which offers great surf casting for locals who don't have boats, there are also charter boats which offer deep sea fishing experience for those willing to pay.
Shopping
I find that the shopping in Raglan is quite similar to being in an Indonesian country, there are a bunch of tribal stores that try to sell strange items, I would recommend shopping back in Hamilton and not to go to Raglan as a shopping destination.
Food
Probably home to some of the best fish and chips around New Zealand, you cannot go to Raglan without going to Jo's Fish and Chips store across from the camping ground, it is by far the best with fresh fish delivered daily it is a definite must. There are also a bunch of bakery and other places around.
