Tokoroa, Waikato New Zealand15 April 2017
Tokoroa is the 5th biggest town in the Waikato region and is located about 60km from Taupo north of state highway 1, it is a farming community town, surrounding the township are dairy farms and plantation forests of vast pine trees, the town itself holds alot of scenic reserves and holds alot of maori history.
The Tokoroa people are your typical farming locals from New Zealand. The majority of the towns population are elderly, but the town itself homes alot of engineers and farmers who are generally pretty friendly.
Tokoroa is not your typical tourist town, it has a few hikes that are located just out of town. I recommend when you come here, if you plan on hiking take a drive to either Taupo, Tauranga or Rotorua which are located very close to the city.
Mountain & Trail Biking, Cycling
Just like hiking, it is probably best that if you are wanting to find some great tracks you take a drive out towards Taupo, Tauranga or Rotorua.
There is one trail which is close to the town which i would highly recommend, which is the Waikato River trail, its a track located at the turn off to Te Kuiti on your way from Tokoroa to Taupo.
